Are you ready for an Azores Whaling History Tour?

Discover Azorean whaling history by visiting a traditional whaler lookout and witness an authentic 1945 Azorean whaleboat. Meet locals who keep cultural heritage alive while playing the role of the lookout searching for whales.

We are thrilled to have you join us at the Marina of Vila Franca do Campo for check-in at the designated time! Our tour begins with an exciting introduction to the local whaling culture, followed by a visit to the authentic 1945 whaleboat "Senhora de Fátima". This incredible vessel is the only fully operational and sea-worthy evidence of the era in São Miguel, and we cannot wait for you to experience it.

Next, we will take you on a van tour to the whaler lookout "Vigia da Furada", where you will learn about the ancient 1830 whale spotting techniques that helped evolve Azorean Whale Watching into one of the world's best. This immersive experience will give you a glimpse into the fascinating history of the area, and you'll even get to see how specialized long-range binoculars were used in the lookout role to search for whales.

One of the highlights of our Azores Whaling History Tour is a visit to the iconic Ponta Garça's 1957 Lighthouse. You will have an opportunity to join a guided tour with the lighthouse keeper and learn interesting facts about the building's importance for maritime activities and seamen. Plus, you'll get to revel in the breathtaking island and ocean views, making for an unforgettable experience.

As the sun sets, we will head back to the Marina for check-out at 5:00 PM. We are confident that you will thoroughly enjoy this tour, and we cannot wait to share this incredible adventure with you!

To ensure you have the best experience possible, here are a few things to keep in mind: Firstly, we recommend eating a light meal before the tour and bringing your own water supply, sunscreen, chap-stick, and warm clothing, as temperatures can vary. Of course, we want you to capture all the incredible moments, so feel free to bring a camera and some light snacks. Just remember to protect your personal equipment!

As for the tour itself, it's important to note that it's not suitable for anyone in a wheelchair, those with delicate health conditions, or children under the age of 4. Safety is our top priority, and we want everyone to enjoy themselves without any worries.

Your tour includes an experienced guide, a briefing on Azorean Whaling History, a visit to the 1945 Azorean Whaleboat, a guided van tour with air-conditioning, a Whaler Lookout Tour, and even a role-play experience. Plus, we want you to have peace of mind, so insurance is included.

We can't wait for you to join us on this unforgettable adventure during the Azores Whaling History Tour!
