The best watersports and boat tours in Dénia

Tips for your holidays in Dénia

Located in eastern Spain you will find Dénia, a historical coastal city in the province of Alicante. Situated more south, you could easily visit Calpe, Altea and Benidorm. It is a popular holiday destination because of its location related to the main attractions along the Costa Blanca. The best way to discover Dénia is by doing one of our watersports or boat tours in Dénia. Did you know that the surroundings and coastline are truly amazing?

Dénia is known for its rough landscapes, with cliffs down to the sea. However, you can also find some extensive fine sand beaches more north. Dénia enjoys an annual average temperature of 22 degrees, with hot summers and mild winters. The inviting transparent waters are irresistible for a refreshing dive. From Dénia’s castle you can admire some spectacular views over the city and the nearby port.

Language and currency in Dénia

Spanish (Castilian) is the official language. Besides Spanish, some local people also speak Catalan, Basque and Galician. Most people in the tourism industry know how to speak English. The local currency is Euro and nowadays it is no problem to pay with card in most places.

Getting around in Dénia

Getting around Denia is very easy. The public transport offer combines both road transport as rail transport. If you would like to visit some places nearby it’s recommendable to hire a bike. With the bike, you can easily move around and stop at any time to take some pictures.

Best things to do during your holidays in Dénia

  • Walk through the historical centre

Denia's historical centre is a fascinating mix of modern architecture and ancient neighborhoods. From elegant buildings and old fishermen's houses, to colorful and modern streets and alleys with an ancient flavor. Walking towards the sea, you'll come across Calle Marques de Campos, a bustling avenue full of shops and bars with terraces.

Once you arrive in the port area, you can visit the neighbourhood Baix la Mar. This barrio (spanish for neighbourhood) is located just below the castle. Wander around the narrow streets and characteristic fisherman houses, with picturesque facades painted in pastel colors. In the area closest to the port there are many bars and restaurants where you can taste some excellent fresh fish.
  • Enjoy beaches and watersports

The beaches of Dénia are the main reason for visiting this place. The town boasts a coastline of almost 15 km, divided into two different stretches: Las Rotas, characterised by rocky and uncrowded coves, and Las Marinas (our favorite), with long and comfortable sandy beaches.

If you are looking for something fun to do, then this boat trip with snorkeling and jetsurf in Dénia could be so much fun. We highly recommend this experience to couples or groups of friends who would like to have an adventurous surfing experience in the open sea!
  • Shop at local markets

Denia has many nice opportunities for shopping. In the area of Calle Marques de Campo and the neighborhood of Baix la Mar you will find many craft shops and small boutiques. The perfect location if you are looking for clothes, accessoires or souvenirs.

If you want to have a taste of the local products, you should visit the Mercado Municipal. You can visit this market everyday except for Sunday in Calle Magallanes (not far from the Castle). Every Monday and Friday, just outside the main building, there is an open air market of fresh local products (mainly fruits and vegetables). Here you will have the opportunity to experience some of the colours and flavours of the local gastronomy. Definitely worth a visit!
  • Explore Montgó Natural Reserve

One of the characteristics of Denia’s landscape is the imposing figure of Montgó, a 800 meters high mountain located at a short distance from the coast. With its surroundings it forms a Natural Park, home to 650 different species of flora and a rich fauna. Think of eagles, peregrine falcons, owls, foxes, wild boars and genets. The park offers numerous paths worth exploring by bike or hiking.
  • Do a private boat tour from Dénia

The coast and surroundings around Dénia are truly amazing. That’s why you should definitely consider doing a private boat tour from the Port of Denia. Be it a bachelor party, a wedding, a networking cocktail, a team building… For every type of group, it’s possible to organize a perfect boat tour.

Smaller groups up to 25 people can enjoy a motorboat tour in Dénia. Puerto Dénia has great boarding facilities. No problem at all to provide a catamaran boat tour in Dénia for big groups up to 250 people. Did you know that some boats even have underwater vision? Enjoy the Mediterranean sea breeze and breathtaking views over Denia coastline!

Whatever you decide to do during your trip to Dénia, we promise you will love this beautiful town and the Costa Blanca! Sunshine and a lot of fun are guaranteed! For any further tips or requests, feel free to contact us anytime.
