Are you ready to snorkel with manta rays in Kailua-Kona?
This adventure will take you to snorkel with manta rays in Kailua-Kona. After a fast 5-minute boat journey, you'll spend 30-40 minutes in the water with the manta rays. A mask, snorkel, and wetsuit are all provided. We recommend that you wear your swimsuit and bring a towel. Enjoy nonalcoholic beverages such as water and Hawaiian juices.
With a limit of 12 passengers, our US Coast Guard licensed vessel provides a small group experience. Approximately 92% of the time, Manta Rays emerge on our tours. While we expect to see manta rays every night, they are wild species that only appear about 8% of the time. If you do not see at least one manta ray, we will give you a free trip on any available tour. Because our tours often sell out many days in advance, we recommend booking your manta ray tour at the start of your Hawaii Island vacation.
The biggest difference between the excursions is the amount of light. The first tour departs before sundown, and you enter the ocean when it is still light out. Later tours leave in the dark, and you enter the water when it is dark. If you enjoy beautiful Kona sunsets, the early trip may be the finest option. If you enjoy thrills, you could enjoy boarding a boat and entering the water in complete darkness.
The chances of encountering manta rays are roughly 92% for both earlier and later cruises. We've seen manta rays appear after the first tour has ended, and we've seen manta rays leave before the second tour begins. We recommend the first tour if you are not a strong swimmer. We've seen non-swimmers struggle to adjust to snorkeling in the dark since it adds a new challenge to overcome.
Are manta rays harmful? No, manta rays are not harmful. They cannot sting you since they lack barbs and stingers. Please keep in mind that our Manta Magic start timings vary throughout the year, based on the time of sunset. For the boat ride back to the harbor, we recommend bringing a towel and a light coverup or jacket. Children aged 3 and above are welcome if they can comfortably swim 25 yards in the water. Everyone on the boat, regardless of age or stature, requires a ticket. The US Coast Guard has certified our boat for a maximum of 12 passengers, which we cannot exceed.

If you cannot comfortably swim 25 yards in the ocean, we ask that you purchase a ticket to ride along on the boat but not enter the water for safety reasons.
Please arrive 30 minutes prior to your scheduled departure time. We will check you in, fit you for a wetsuit (optional), and transport you to the boat at the scheduled departure time.
