Are you ready for a Sunset Bioluminescence Kayaking in Titusville?

On this Sunset Bioluminescence Kayaking in Titusville we take you out on the Indian River Lagoon to see a Federally protected Rookery on Mullet Head Island in the Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge. Our tour will start from Haulover Canal in Titusville about an hour before susnet. Take an early evening sunset kayak trip with us to see nature untouched. Depending on the direction of the wind, you can hear the birds chirping at the meeting point.

We will see a variety of birds on this tour such as Anhinga, Heron, Egrets, Ibis, White, Brown, and Common Pelicans, Falcons, and the very beautiful Roseate Spoonbill. While paddling to the Island it is not uncommon to also see other wildlife such as the Florida Bottlenose Dolphin breeching the surface of the water while chasing baitfish, Manatee swimming to where they will rest for the evening, Alligators heading out to find the unsuspecting mammal at the waters edge and Sharks running the flats in search of food.

Florida Bioluminescence Kayaking is a bucket list entry for Eco-adventurers of all ages and all kayaking experience levels. This is an outdoor adventure eco-tour that is limited in number as to provide an intimate outdoor experience. There is just no way to get close to wildlife with 60 tourists, in a group, on the water, (yeah let that mental image sink in).

There is no light pollution on the Refuge, so the bioluminescence, as well as the milky way above, are extremely bright on moonless nights. Milky Way season coinsides with our Bioluminescence season! This means that from March to October we (those of us in the northern hemisphere) are able to see into the center of the galaxy. And this means that we are able to see the bands of our Milky Way galaxy (which is shaped like a spiral or like a hurricane) over our heads at night, in stunning detail!

The dinoflagellate bioluminescence, when touched, is bright enough to light up a cove of trees Neon Blue from a distance, so visibility on a Sit On Top Kayak is not an issue. The darkest time of the month is 3 days AFTER the full moon, until 2 days after the NEW moon.
