You’d be hard pressed to find a spot anywhere in the world that has so much variety so close together. You see the natural wonders of Table Mountain, surf in one of the biggest spots in the world – Dungeons… or even swim with penguins while spending no more than 1 hour in a car.

Paddle Boarding Cape Town: The 6 Best Spots

Location 1: Clifton Beach

Clifton Beach is the chill-out lounge of paddle boarding spots. Picture yourself gliding over calm waters, with the sun warming your back and mountains watching over you. There are hundreds of beautiful people lounging on the beach, and you can feel the warm African sun on your back.

If that sounds good to you – then Clifton is perfect for you! Just remember to pack in your wetsuit or rash vest because the water is super cold.

Location 2: Langebaan Lagoon

Langebaan Lagoon is like that friend who’s always easy to hang out with. The water’s so calm, it’s like it’s cheering on your every move, making it perfect for newbies and seasoned paddlers looking for a relaxed day out. 

This is a great location for kids because the lagoon is always about waist deep so they can stand in the water. It’s also really warm so you can get a tan while out paddling. Just make sure you stay out of the way of the kitesurfers!

Location 3: Boulders Beach

Paddling at Boulders Beach is all about those ‚pinch me, I’m dreaming‘ moments. Imagine floating alongside cute penguins! It’s not just a paddle; it’s an unforgettable experience with our favorite feathered locals. 

Seriously – where else could you paddle board with penguins? It’s amazing. Make sure to book in advance because the SUP tours get busy (and the water is really cold – just saying)

Location 4: Camps Bay

Camps Bay is where you hit the water during the day and the beach bars later. The water’s great for a paddle, and the beach life is buzzing. It’s the spot where you can have your cake and eat it too.

One of the more popular spots where you can find the ‘who’s who’ of local models and actors in a place called Cafe Caprice. Lines get long so try to get there early. This is paddle boarding Cape Town at it’s finest! 

Location 5: Blouberg Beach

Paddling at Blouberg Beach is like being in a live postcard. With Table Mountain in the backdrop, every stroke feels a bit more epic. Whether you’re catching the sunrise or just enjoying the clear waters, it’s a view you’ll never tire of. 

Make sure to take a lot of pictures because this is one of the best sights that you’re ever going to see. By the way – bring a jacket because the water is cold and it gets really windy there in the afternoon.

Location 6: Kalk Bay

Kalk Bay is the funky, artsy cousin in the paddle boarding family. It’s got this cool, laid-back vibe that makes every paddling trip feel like a new adventure. Plus, the views and the waves are top-notch.

Make sure you take some time to hang out in the coffee shops and look at all the little stores. It will be well worth your time.

Location 7: Muizenberg Beach

Muizenberg Beach is the go-to for surfers, but hey, we paddle boarders love it too! It’s got this ‚everyone’s welcome‘ kind of feel, with waves that are just right for a fun day out on the board. 

And don’t worry – the waves are really small most of the time. Plus – you can stand (and the waters warm) so it’s a really good time for everyone if you want to try some surfing.
