Are you ready to go birdwatching in Fuzera?
Admire the incredible diversity of the rare birds in the Natural Park of Ria Formosa and of the coastline in the Eastern Algarve. The experienced skipper and marine biologist is the perfect guide on this boat trip. He’ll be happy to teach you all about the different bird species we will se. The beautiful Natural Park of Ria Formosa covers an area of 14.000 hectares protected by a complex web of sand barriers and dunes that extents for 60 kilometers along the coast and host in a regular basis more than 20,000 waterbirds especially during winter time.
Some of the most interesting species that we often observe during our birdwatching in Fuzera are the black-necked grebe (podiceps nigricollis), the spoonbill (platalea leucorodia), oystercatcher (haematopus ostralegus), flamingo (phoenicopterus roseus), bar-tailed godwit (limosa lapponica), Mediterranean gull (larus melanocephalus), cormorant (phalacrocorax carbo), little egret (egretta garzetta), grey heron (ardea cinerea), white stork (ciconia ciconia), among others.
Did you know that the Ria Formosa is an important location for migrant birds from or to Africa? During this birdwatching in Fuzeta it's possible to see up to 200 species of birds in one day. The Ria Formosa is a great place to see rare and localized species that cannot be found anywhere else in Portugal, like Purple Swamp-hen and Little Bittern. This boat trip, from departure to arrival, including the bird observation, takes about two hours and is always done on low tide.
