Are you ready for a Private Surf Trip at Fisherman’s Island in Weems?
This private surf trip at Fisherman's Island is perfect for two people and lasts approximately five hours. Virginia surfers have long wished to ride the deserted break at Fisherman's Island, which is located at the mouth of the Chesapeake Bay. The surf break that adorns its beach is a true treasure for everyone who can gain access to this remote site.
Clearly visible from a car as you drive across the Chesapeake Bay Bridge, it is tantalizingly inaccessible. Very few people have surfed the break at Fisherman’s Island because there is no public road access - the island and its beaches are protected as a National Wildlife Refuge.
This trip is for the true adventure seekers ready to check another location off their bucket-list. We will begin at Kiptopeke State Park where you will board Galene and sail down to Fisherman’s Island (about an hour-long voyage). We will anchor off the island and paddle in for a surf session to remember.
Some prior surf experience is required, so bring your own surfboard. The surf at Fisherman’s Island is not conducive to providing lessons for complete beginners and we want our guests to have the best experience possible at this particular location. SUP surfers are welcome!
This surfing trip, more than any other, is dependent upon weather. Wind and wave patterns are variable in this region and windows of rideable surf may not correspond with our calendars. Some flexibility with scheduling is recommended. If a trip needs to be canceled due to weather, you will be contacted at least 48 hours before the scheduled trip. Canceled trips due to weather or flat surf conditions are entitled to full refund.
