A beach in the south, an old town in the north, then a detour up to Teide. Without a hire car, the better question is what you want outside your front door on the days when you cannot be bothered with a bus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">TITSA\u2019s network gives you genuine options, but choosing the right base matters more than finding a hotel that promises to be \u201cclose to everything\u201d. A beach holiday and a week of exploring historic towns deserve different addresses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"h-los-cristianos-or-costa-adeje-for-beach-first-holidays\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Los Cristianos or Costa Adeje for beach-first holidays<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For a holiday built around the coast, the southern resorts are the obvious starting point. Los Cristianos has a working port as well as its holiday-town side, with ferries connecting Tenerife to neighbouring islands. Costa Adeje is an alternative if the hotel itself is a big part of the attraction, particularly if your ideal afternoon involves moving between a pool and the beach rather than another excursion.<\/p>\n\n\n<div data-gyg-href=\"https:\/\/widget.getyourguide.com\/default\/city.frame\" data-gyg-location-id=\"103407\" data-gyg-locale-code=\"en-US\" data-gyg-widget=\"city\" data-gyg-partner-id=\"FR58WHV\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The airport connection helps both. TITSA route 40 links Tenerife South Airport with Los Cristianos and Costa Adeje bus station. That does not mean every Costa Adeje hotel is beside the station, though. The actual address deserves as much attention as the pool photographs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">These bases suit holidays where most days involve little travelling. Exploring the north is possible, but staying in the south and commuting north repeatedly means spending a lot of the week in transit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Puerto de la Cruz has more than the beach<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Around Plaza del Charco and the old centre, Puerto de la Cruz offers plenty to browse without making a formal sightseeing expedition of it. The former fishing district of La Ranilla has large street-art murals, giving a wander through the streets something different to look for.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Lago Marti\u00e1nez adds another attraction: a seawater swimming complex created by a team led by C\u00e9sar Manrique, with sculptures and planting alongside the pools. The Botanical Garden is another local option. Swimming can be part of a stay here without being the only reason to leave the hotel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Puerto de la Cruz also works for a visit to La Laguna, with route 103 connecting the two towns\u2019 bus interchanges. For the airport, route 343 serves Puerto de la Cruz and both Tenerife airports, but its timetable has substantial gaps. A direct bus is not necessarily a convenient bus for your flight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">La Laguna for history rather than a resort<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">La Laguna makes sense when old buildings interest you more than sunloungers. Its UNESCO-listed centre includes churches and public and private buildings dating from the 16th to the 18th century, with broad streets and open spaces that reward an unhurried wander.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is an inland city, not a beach resort. Santa Cruz is accessible by bus, including route 14 between the cities\u2019 interchanges, and Puerto de la Cruz is another outing. The attraction is being able to return to La Laguna for the evening, rather than treating it as a stop squeezed between long journeys.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">When a split stay makes sense<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A few days in the south followed by a stay in the north can work better than repeated journeys across the island. On the transfer day, hotel bag storage or <a href=\"https:\/\/stasher.com\/luggage-storage\/spain\/tenerife\">somewhere to leave your luggage in Tenerife<\/a> may help if there is a convenient option along your route.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">De <a href=\"https:\/\/titsa.com\/index.php\/en\/\">official TITSA timetables<\/a> are worth checking before booking around a particular excursion. Teide illustrates the limits: route 342 runs from Costa Adeje through Los Cristianos into the national park, but the published schedule offers one outward departure daily. It is not a service to treat like a city bus.<\/p>\n\n\n<div data-gyg-href=\"https:\/\/widget.getyourguide.com\/default\/availability.frame\" data-gyg-tour-id=\"217542\" data-gyg-locale-code=\"en-US\" data-gyg-currency=\"EUR\" data-gyg-widget=\"availability\" data-gyg-variant=\"horizontal\" data-gyg-partner-id=\"FR58WHV\"><span>Aangedreven door <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"sponsored\" href=\"https:\/\/www.getyourguide.com\/tenerife-l350\/\">GetYourGuide<\/a><\/span><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The south suits a beach-heavy week.
