Don\u2019t you know this awesome watersport? Parasailing is also known as parascending or parakiting and is a recreational kiting activity where you are towed behind a boat (or a car, in some cases), in the air, while attached to a specially designed canopy wing that looks like a parachute – the parasail wing. If the boat is powerful enough, two or three people can parasail behind it at the same time.<\/p>\n\n\n

Parasailen<\/a> can be done all over the world, both behind a boat or on land, behind a car. In the Algarve, Portugal, and other coastal holiday destinations, parasailing is usually done behind a boat.\u00a0However, throughout Europe, land-based parasailing has been transformed into a competition sport. In land-based competition parasailing, the parasail hangs behind a 4 wheel drive vehicle and is towed to maximum height.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The idea is that the driver releases the tow line and the parasailer flies to a target area in an accuracy competition. This sport and its competitions were developed in the early 80’s and has been very popular ever since. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
