The content of the course includes launching and recovery, boat handling, securing to a buoy, anchoring, leaving and coming alongside, and man overboard recovery.
The certificate is given to powerboaters who can take care of themselves and are aware of their own and the boat's limits. The course format is predominantly practical, with some classroom elements. The meeting point is next to Lagos Marina in the south-west of the Algarve in Portugal, where great conditions are available for all kinds of water sports activities year-round.
