Are you ready for a full day of Portimão sailing?

If you’re on holidays in Portimão, one of the best ways to enjoy the region is by boat. A sailing boat, of course! Portimão has strong historical ties with boating and you can feel that yourself while on one of our beautiful sailing ships on the Atlantic. Let’s go Portimão sailing!  

Get aboard on one of our luxurious yachts and enjoy Portimão from a different perspective. This Portimão sailing excursion takes about seven hours. The departure of this sailing tour in is at our Dolphin Watching Center in Ferragudo. On the opposite bench of the Arade river than the Marina of Portimão.

During the Portimão sailing excursion, we’ve got time to go to the local underwater canyon. We’ll set sail from Arade river mouth towards Portimão’s underwater canyon. This canyon is like an underwater valley. It’s located around 12 miles offshore and known as a wildlife hotspot. You will have a wildlife and environmental awareness briefing by the marine biologist onboard.

In the canyon of Portimão, we’ll most likely be able to find common dolphins and bottlenose dolphins. Sometimes we even spot minke whales, turtles, sharks and a variety of marine birds too.

The experience of sailing on a catamaran and encountering marine mammals is unique and unforgettable. Depending on the ocean conditions, we can even experience a swim in the deep blue offshore waters of the Atlantic. Here you’ll feel the impressive quietness of the big blue ocean. Snorkelling gear will be available on board.

The vessel that will take you sailing is called “Oceanus”. “Oceanus” is a 44 ft fast sailing catamaran. We promise that moments of adrenaline and joy are part of this sailing experience! And of course, we won't let you get hungry or thirsty; we’ll serve lunch and some snacks and non-alcoholic beverages.

The skipper of “Oceanus” is an experienced Marine Biologist and sailor. In fact, he already did two Atlantic crossings and has several years experience as a sailing and dolphin watching guide. He will be happy to share all the details of the local marine wildlife and all the secrets of sailing on a catamaran.
