Are you ready for a boat tour with snorkeling at Pawai Bay?
This boat tour with snorkeling visits one of Kona's most beautiful and private snorkeling spots, which is only accessible by boat. Every day, only a few visitors get to snorkel here, and you could be one of them! If the weather permits, we will snorkel in Pawai Bay (pronounced Pa-vai) in the afternoon. This beautiful lava-rock coastline is reserved for native Hawaiian children and is inaccessible from the shore.
Basic swimming abilities are required; you must be able to swim or float unaided. Non-swimmers can relax in the sun while admiring the stunning and spectacular Kona coastline. Non-swimmers are not permitted to enter the water. Beginners or first-time snorkelers are welcome. For your safety, you must be able to communicate in English.
At all times, those under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult. We're lucky to be able to tie up in the bay and show our guests the beautiful wildlife on the shallow reef and give them educational talks about the wildlife we see. This hidden spot is a real treasure for locals and is known as one of the most beautiful places to snorkel in Kona.
We leave Kona's harbor soon after getting on board, keeping a close eye out for Hawaiian spinner dolphins in their natural environment. Kona's most beautiful local snorkeling spot is Pawai. It has huge schools of fish, beautiful reefs, and arches made of lava rock.
You'll spend less time aboard and more time on the water. Furthermore, you will most likely have the entire area to yourself. Because Kealakekua Bay can get crowded, spend some time exploring some of Kona's local reefs.
Remember that the Marine Mammal Act protects spinner dolphins and whales, so you should stay away from them when you see them. If dolphins try to engage us, we must take evasive measures to disengage from them.
