Aljezur is a little village on the far west end of the
Algarve. It has kept his authentic Portuguese charm of a rural village. It's a great location for
watersports and an Aljezur SUP Tour. At the same time though, there are a lot of
cute shops, delicious restaurants and in general a very relaxing flair. But most importantly - the beaches around Aljezur are some of the most beautiful you will visit during your stay in the
Algarve!
There is a lot of wild, untouched nature around Aljezur. The beaches of the western Algarve that are closest to it have mostly a café or a bar where you can get some drinks, but besides that, they are much wilder than the beaches further East. Praia da Arrifana is one of the most famous beaches in Aljezur. But there are many more beaches to discover around Aljezur. Stand-Up Paddleboarding in Aljezur is a great way to explore the region!

Getting around in Aljezur

very little inhabited compared to the rest of the Algarve, there is not too much public transport available. There are mainly
busses from Aljezur to nearby bigger destinations, like
Lagos or even
Lisbon. But to get around in Aljezur and to the many many beaches, the best way is really to
rent a car. You can rent a car in
Faro when you get to the airport. This way you’re more independent and can really explore the region. What also works in Aljezur is
hitchhiking - but this is of course not something for everybody!

Enjoy the beautiful beaches around Aljezur
The region around Aljezur is blessed with some of the most amazing beaches. Since it’s on the West Coast of the Algarve, the scenery is a lot different from the South Coast Beaches. The cliffs are steeper, the colors are different, there are more waves and it’s not as hot. But the beaches are just breathtakingly beautiful.
Praia da Arrifana and Praia do Monte Clérigo are the two most famous beaches in the region. Praia da Amoreira is also a real gem, and along the river that is just behind the beach, you can always find a calm spot, even during summer. Not too far away from Aljezur, you will find
Praia do Amado, a
real hotspot for surfers. Then you also have the wide Praia da Bordeira, where you can walk for miles and miles. It’s the perfect spot to escape the tourist crowds in summer. And further to the west, you can catch some waves at
