Getting around in Benidorm
One of the best ways to get around in Benidorm is walking. Wander along the narrow streets of the old town of Benidorm, stroll by the sea on the Poniente or Levante promenade or walk along the skyscraper lined avenues. It’s simply the best way to get to know Benidorm. Alternatively, it is also possible to rent a bike! On rainy days it might be smart to take the bus. Llorente Bus Company has about 20 routes that connect different points of the town and the surrounding areas. Tickets can be purchased on the bus.
Best things to do during your holidays in Benidorm
Visit Levante beach
An arc of pale golden sand, bounded by a long line of skyscrapers and dappled with a forest of blue parasols: that is the image most associated with Benidorm. Granted, Levante beach can fill up in the summer, but even on the busiest days, you can find a quiet place. And if you would like to stay active during your holidays you can do a
2-hours kayak tour in Benidorm to explore the coastline around Levante beach and
snorkel in the Mediterranean Sea.
Enjoy spectacular views from Balcón del Mediterráneo
Plaça del Castell is a kind of stone garden with chessboard tiles and white balustrades on the headland between Poniente and Levante. This was the site of Benidorm’s castle, which stood for hundreds of years until it was destroyed during the Napoleonic wars. The views on either side of the square are incredible, but nothing beats the Balcón del Mediterráneo on the southern edge of the promontory. Take a seat beneath the lamppost here to contemplate the Mediterranean and Benidorm’s modern skyline.
Explore the Natural Park of Sierra Helada
Getting into the Natural Park of Sierra Helada to the island Mitjana is a small adventure marked by a unique landscape that will not leave you indifferent.
Steep cliffs of 400m will make you feel small. You can hike to the natural park, but if you decide to do a
kayak trip to Mitjana island, you will be admired by the beautiful skyline of Playa de Levante, la Almadrava and Tío Ximo. Accompanied by different species of seabirds along the way, you will arrive at the Mitjana island or Isla de Los Pulpos.
