We went on a SeaBookings trip to <strong>discover the best things to do on Madeira<\/strong> and then to share them with you, of course! This <a href=\"https:\/\/www.seabookings.com\/de\/experience\/sup-madeira\/\"><strong>SUP-Tour auf Madeira<\/strong><\/a> is one of them.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/ByLU8-QHcI1\/<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">One of the best things to do on Madeira island is of course <strong>Wassersport<\/strong>. Being surrounded by the <strong>Atlantik<\/strong> and with its <strong>water temperatures around 20\u00baC all year round<\/strong>, doing some watersports in Madeira is a must. We wanted to go <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.seabookings.com\/de\/experience\/surfen-auf-madeira\/\">Surfen auf Madeira<\/a><\/strong> or to do a SUP tour, depending on the conditions. As the sea was very calm, we choose for the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.seabookings.com\/de\/experience\/sup-madeira\/\">SUP-Tour auf Madeira<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This SUP tour in Madeira started from the stunning <strong>Nature Park of Garajau<\/strong>. We parked our rental car next to the <strong>\u201cCristo Rei\u201d cable car<\/strong> and then took the cable car down. This was a great suggestion by our tour guide, Roberto, as the parking lot down at the beach was a bit chaotic. Before heading down, we walked down to trail from the car park to Cristo Rei to check out the amazing view over the Atlantic you have from here. It\u2019s really worth it!<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_13507\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-13507\" style=\"width: 960px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.seabookings.com\/de\/experience\/sup-madeira\/\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-large wp-image-13507\" src=\"https:\/\/seabookings.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sup_2-1024x606.jpg\" alt=\"A big plus about paddle boarding? It&#8217;s easy to learn!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The cable car from the parking lot to the beach of Garajau costs about <strong>2\u20ac per person<\/strong> and takes around 3min, I think. It\u2019s really worth it as the <strong>views during the ride are simply incredible<\/strong>! Once we got off the cable car, it felt like we landed in paradise. Praia do Garajau is a very cosy beach with a cute beach bar.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We immediately encountered <strong>Roberto<\/strong>, whose surf and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.seabookings.com\/de\/experience\/sup-madeira\/\">SUP<\/a> school is located on top of the beach bar. Our board were already waiting for us and after a <strong>brief technical introduction about how to SUP<\/strong>, we were ready to get into the sea with stand up paddle boards. Actually, Roberto is a <strong>very good SUPper himself<\/strong> and managed to really <strong>help me improve my paddle technique<\/strong>. I had done stand-up paddle a few times before but never really worried about my technique. Well, now I know how to paddle properly!\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_13508\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-13508\" style=\"width: 960px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.seabookings.com\/de\/experience\/sup-madeira\/\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-large wp-image-13508\" src=\"https:\/\/seabookings.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sup_4-1024x606.jpg\" alt=\"SUP is a very peaceful way to explore the coast of Madeira\" width=\"960\" height=\"568\" loading=\"lazy\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-13508\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">SUP is a very peaceful way to explore the coast of Madeira<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To get to the water it\u2019s a bit tricky as there are some loose round stones on the beach, but it\u2019s only a very short distance. And yes, <strong>the water was warm<\/strong>! Gotta love Madeira island! Once we were all comfortably standing on our boards, we paddled in Eastern direction. These <strong>cliffs of the Garajau Natural Park are impressive<\/strong> and the different shades of blue of the sea were beautiful!\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/BytHpNAH3V1\/<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">While paddling close to shore, <strong>Roberto was explaining some of the local flora and fauna to us<\/strong>. Doing a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.seabookings.com\/de\/experience\/sup-madeira\/\">SUP-Tour auf Madeira<\/a> is super <strong>entspannend<\/strong>. For us, it was the perfect experience to do before catching our flight back to Lisbon. But hey, when we turned around to paddle back in the direction of the beach, we had <strong>the wind, that suddenly picked up, against us<\/strong>. To cross the \u201cPonta do Garajau\u201d, some real strength was needed. So, tighten your core, bend your knees a bit and row 1, row 2, row 3! Yes, we all made it to the less windy side, near the beach and still felt like paddling a bit further.<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_13506\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-13506\" style=\"width: 960px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-large wp-image-13506\" src=\"https:\/\/seabookings.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sup_1-1024x606.jpg\" alt=\"For Francisco and F\u00e1bio it was only the 2nd time SUPping\" width=\"960\" height=\"568\" loading=\"lazy\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-13506\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">For Francisco and F\u00e1bio it was only the 2nd time SUPping<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">After the SUP tour in Garajau, we still grabbed a refreshing drink at the beach bar before driving to the airport (after a quick <strong>sweet water shower on the beach<\/strong>). <a href=\"https:\/\/www.seabookings.com\/de\/experience\/sup-madeira\/\">SUP<\/a> is a great way to access the local beauty and lush landscape of the coastline, it\u2019s environmentally friendly and a full-body workout. <strong>All you need to bring is a swimming suit, a cap and sunscreen<\/strong>.
