SeaBookings - We went dolphin watching in São Miguel

Dolphin watching is always an amazing experience, and even better if you are in a magic place like the Azores. That’s why when I went to visit the Azores, I booked my trip with SeaBookings to go dolphin watching in São Miguel. SeaBookings took care of everything for me.

I went on the catamaran. There are also other boats.

I had to be at the harbour of Ponta Delgada at 1 pm. That was where I saw the boat straight away. After one of the guides gave us all the instructions and told us about different kinds of species, we left the harbour and went into the ocean while enjoying the beautiful green view of São Miguel.

It didn’t take long before we saw the first group of dolphins. They were everywhere around us. They were coming really close to the boat, swimming really fast and jumping out of the water. The guides informed us, these were common dolphins. The seagulls kept flying over them in the attempt to catch some fish.

We stayed with these beautiful animals for a while and then we continued our trip to see if we could find more species. The sea was not very still this day so we had some waves, which made the boat trip very fun too.

After a bit, we found our second species of dolphins. They were very small, with yellowish stripes on the side. From what I understood, these and the local species of the Azores. Also beautiful! It was amazing how fast and close they were swimming around the boat. It’s almost like they enjoy our company and they pass on an amazing energy. I think it’s really fascinating how these animals interact with each other and don’t seem to be scared of humans.

On the way back the boat went slower and I couldn’t stop looking at the amazing view of São Miguel again while enjoying the sun shining on my face.
